چکیده

Following the rapid evolution of Web services standards and technologies over the last three years many organizations are now beginning to make significant investments in the implementation of Web services applications. However, so far only limited attention has been paid to design issues for service-oriented applications. This paper describes a design framework for domain-specific service interfaces. The design framework provides guidance fortransfOtmation -·of a document-oriented message specification into a definition of service interfaces that can be used to generate Web services. We illustrate the design framework using an example based on the OpenTravelAlliance (OTA) specification.

Semantics-Based Composition of EMBOSS Services with Bio-jETI

Bio-jETI is a framework for model-based, graphical design, execution and management of bioinformatics analysis processes. Formal methodology like automatic service composition extends the framework and, in particular, allows for semantically aware workflow development. In this study we apply the workflow synthesis methodology to the EMBOSS suite of sequence analysis tools. As neither the tool s...

Generation of Context-Specific Electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR) using Domain-Specific Modeling

The creation of an electronic version of the Patient Care Report (ePCR) during the ambulance run remains a challenge for the pre-hospital environment. Current ePCR systems follow a “one-size-fits-all” approach. In this context, system components such as user interfaces and business models are developed without taking into account the specifics for different categories of patients or information...

ADDI: a tool for automating the design of visual interfaces

Visual interfaces are often poorly designed because the application developers lack graphics design knowledge. Designing effective interfaces requires great effort, especially when many types of graphical objects and relations are involved. In addition, many domain applications require interactive and dynamic graphical interfaces. Existing automatic graphical presentation systems focus on inter...

Design of an Online Charging System to Support IMS-Based Inter-domain Composite Services

For service providers online charging of composite services is necessary in order to manage financial risks of service delivery in multi-domain environments. At service level, inter-domain composite services consist of one or more service components, e.g. access service, IMS communication service or content service, delivered by different service providers. The 3rd Generation Partnership Projec...

Domain-Specific Design of 3D Interaction Techniques: An Approach for Designing Useful Virtual Environment Applications

Few production virtual environment (VE) applications involve complex threedimensional (3D) interaction. Our long-term collaboration with architects and engineers in designing 3D user interfaces (3D UIs) has revealed some of the causes: existing interaction tasks and/or techniques are either too generic when isolated from the application context, or too specific to be reusable. We propose a new ...
